STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe:
The great commission as it is termed is described in Matt 28:18-20, it was given by Christ to the disciples as an institution, i.e. the church. Therefore it is not each believer that is commissioned but each Local New Testament Church.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. “
This is the primary function of the Local Church in seeking and winning souls, baptizing them and teaching them to do the same as well as all church doctrine.
- That Jesus Christ is LORD and is God come in the flesh.
- The Bible is the infallible word of God
- That God promised to preserved His word for us and our choice in English is the King James Authorized Version but we also use Greek and Hebrew for study.
- That God has made His word available in many other languages other than English but believe these translations should be based on the 'textus receptus'.
- The whole Bible is profitable for study, preaching and observance from Genesis to Revelation.
- That as humans, we are fallible and must always "prove all things" from the word of God rather than blindly accept any teaching or preaching regardless from whom it comes.
- That doctrinal differences are common place but that these can be discussed in an orderly manner rather than resulting to arguments. We must be humble and be willing to accept that if we are shown to be in error from the Scriptures that we should study the matter to the fullest and seek the guidance of the Spirit to help us walk in the truth in all things.
- A local church is an organised called out assembly of Scripturally Baptized Believers in a certain locality.
- That each Local Church is governed by men who are Pastors and Deacons and no other board or hierarchy.
- There is only one God with three distinct parts, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The literal account of the 6 days of creation in Genesis.
- From Adam, all people have descended and through different genetic combinations, different groups, shades, facial features, sizes etc have occurred.
- That Adam disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden and thus brought sin into the world.
- That all men have transgressed God's law and are in danger of eternal punishment in hell.
- That God sent His only begotten Son to earth to be the Saviour of men.
- That Jesus was born of Mary the virgin, and is the Son of God, and God the Son.
- That Jesus was NOT born on the 25th of December and there is no commandment in the Bible to celebrate His birth.
- That Jesus began an earthly ministry and founded the first New Testament Church whilst He was on earth before Pentecost.
- That Christ died a sinless death as a sin offering for all sin on the day of the Passover.
- That Jesus was buried for 3 days during the feast of Unleavened bread.
- That Jesus rose again for our justification on the feast of Firstfruits.
- That Salvation is ONLY possible through faith in Christ.
- That the ceremonial law could not and cannot save but is a schoolmaster to bring people to Christ.
- That Salvation is a FREE gift from God and a person only needs to Believe, Repent of their sin and Ask for forgiveness.
- In the Eternal Security of the Believer.
- That the fullness of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers according to the words of Christ.
- That there are TRUE gifts from God and FALSE gifts given as counterfeits by the devil
- In the authority in Jesus' name over demons and sickness and that God still heals people today in Jesus' name
- That we can call on the name of Jesus in any language.
- That a person can say Jesus, Jesu, Yesu, Yehoshua or Iesous and it still be the same Name above all names!
- That all people have the freewill to chose to trust in Jesus or reject Him when presented with the gospel message.
- That the first step of obedience to Christ is to follow His example in Scriptural Baptism by full immersion.
- The Rapture of Believers will be the next thing on the prophetic calendar before the tribulation which will be the fulfilment of the feast of Trumpets
- That Jesus will, after the tribulation, return to earth to rule for 1000 years fulfilling the feast of Yom Kippur.
- That there will be a new heaven and a new earth where God's people will dwell with Him for eternity fulfilling the feast of Tabernacles.
- In the Observance of the Church Ordinances until the Rapture.
- That as Ana-Baptists we were never part of the Roman church and thus we do not observe any festivals or rituals that have come in to Christianity from Paganism through the Roman Church such as Mass, Lent, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, infant baptism or any other sacramental rite.
- In the Fulfillment of the Great Commission.
